Hello, food lovers! 😊 Today, I’m going to share two easy and delicious methods to turn your regular instant noodles into a flavorful jjamppong ramen (Korean-style spicy seafood noodle soup). Let’s bring restaurant-quality flavors to your kitchen in no time! 😉
Baek Jong-won Style Jjamppong Ramen
This version is simple yet packed with flavor. Here’s what you’ll need for one serving:
Ingredients:
1/3 can of Spam 🍖
500ml of water 💧
1 pack of instant noodles 🍜
A handful of cabbage 🥬
1/3 stalk of green onion 🌿
1/5 of an onion (sliced) 🧅
3 tablespoons of cooking oil 💧
1/2 tablespoon of red pepper powder (gochugaru) 🔥
1 green chili (optional) 🌶️
Instructions:
Prepare the Spam: Mash the Spam into small pieces. The savory flavor from the Spam will add depth to your broth. 🤤
Heat the Pan: Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the Spam and stir-fry it for 2–3 minutes until slightly crispy.
Add Vegetables: Toss in the sliced onion, cabbage, green onion, and green chili. Stir-fry everything together for 3–4 minutes until the vegetables soften and release their aroma. 🌸
Add Seasoning: Sprinkle in the instant noodle soup base (the seasoning packet) and red pepper powder. Stir-fry for about 1 minute to bring out the spicy flavors. 🔥
Add Water and Cook Noodles: Pour in 500ml of water and bring it to a boil. Add the noodles and cook for 3–4 minutes or until they’re fully cooked. Serve hot and enjoy! 🎉
Chef Lee Yeon-bok Style Jjamppong Ramen
This version is loaded with fresh seafood and vegetables, giving it a rich and authentic jjamppong flavor.

Various vegetables (e.g., onion, green onion, cabbage) 🥬🧅
Seafood (e.g., shrimp, clams) 🦐🐚
1 pack of instant noodles 🍜
2 tablespoons of cooking oil 💧

Prepare Ingredients: Cut vegetables into bite-sized pieces and clean your seafood thoroughly.
Make Green Onion Oil: Heat cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add chopped green onion and minced garlic, then stir-fry for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
Stir-Fry Vegetables: Add your prepared vegetables to the pan and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes.
Add Water and Cook Noodles: Pour in 500ml of water and bring it to a boil. Add the instant noodles and cook for 3–4 minutes.
Add Seafood: Add shrimp, clams, or any other seafood you’re using during the last minute of cooking to keep them tender and fresh.

Tips:
For deeper flavors, stir-fry the vegetables a bit longer before adding water.
Adjust the spiciness by adding more or less red pepper powder.
Use fresh seafood for a richer taste.
Experiment with different vegetables like mushrooms or bok choy for variety.
Personal Review:
I tried both versions, and they were equally amazing! The Spam in Baek Jong-won’s recipe adds a savory kick that pairs perfectly with the spicy broth, while Chef Lee Yeon-bok’s version feels like an authentic restaurant dish thanks to the fresh seafood. Both are must-tries depending on what ingredients you have at home! 😋
